the couch not taken

I am always the cat dragging shit from the street wonderful things off of the sidewalk and putting them in my home. This is generally aggravating for those around me.

Instead of taking so many rough diamonds, and letting time tell whether they get disinfected and sanded and repainted, this little treasure chest is home to the ones that got away, and a few that have made the cut.

Send me pictures of your street finds -- including pieces in your home-- with a location attached and they'll be immortalized.

Inspired by early Bulova wristwear, the font “Avanti,” and thin cigarettes (also called “ladies’ cigarettes”), this was the last piece of a matching set once owned by a Countess from Valencia.  This countess— in love with the sweet citrus from her namesake region— was known to have both red-green colorblindness and chronic hay fever, and would regularly bite into freshly peeled lemons and scowl.
